The Challenge
Taffy Town required a new line and modifications to their existing lines to feed large quantities of wrapped candy into bagger scales. They needed a conveyor to enhance efficiency. But, there was a challenge to overcome. We needed to design a system that could handle up to 3,000 lbs. of taffy in a single bin, streamlining the process from loading to packaging and palletizing.
The Solution: Custom Bin Conveyors and Integrated Systems
Conveyors & Equipment developed a comprehensive solution that involved designing and manufacturing three custom bin conveyors. These high-capacity bins allowed employees to load large amounts of taffy, ensuring a steady flow of product to the bagging scales. Key components of the solution included:
Custom Bin Conveyors:
We designed with a priority of efficient loading and minimized manual handling. The conveyors were built to hold up to 3,000 lbs. of taffy.
Incline Conveyor by SpanTech:
This conveyor carried the product from the high-capacity bins to the bagging scales located on top of a mezzanine. This ensured a smooth transition.
Packaging Conveyors by Dorner Manufacturing and Shuttleworth:
Under the mezzanine, these conveyors facilitated the final stages of packaging, preparing the taffy for palletizing.
Project Execution
The project highlighted our ability to not only create custom equipment but also to collaborate with our partners to integrate different systems seamlessly. The combination of custom-designed bin conveyors with SpanTech’s incline conveyor and Dorner and Shuttleworth’s packaging conveyors resulted in a highly efficient and streamlined operation.
